Torrey Line, the 2006 Minnesota State High School Wrestling Class A 171lb State Champion was diagnosed with a form of bone cancer on August 28, 2006. Osteo Genic Sarcoma had developed in the femur bone of his left leg. On September 12, 2006, Torrey began an aggressive form of chemotherapy at Fairview University Children's Hospital on a weekly basis. On December 7, Torrey had surgery to remove approximately 6 inches from his femur bone and also had a complete knee replacement. He spent most of December recovering from the extensive surgery and is currently undergoing further chemotherapy and will continue to do so for some time.
As a means of raising money to help the Line family with this battle MN/USA Wrestling has coordinated an effort on their behalf. This effort includes the sale of a limited edition Minnesota Storm Wrestling shirt with a back design created by John Schreiner and Tom Harris depicting Torrey having his hand raised after his 2006 State Championship match. T-shirts are available in both youth and adult sizes and hooded sweatshirts (adult sizes only) are also currently available in a limited quantity as well. There will also be adult-size t-shirts available for sale at a number of High School Section Tournaments throughout the state over the next few weeks.
